Axis Location System (XLS)

Overview

Producing toric specialty contact lenses, IOLs, and ICLs demands precise axis alignment between the front and back surfaces — and the DAC Axis Location System (XLS) delivers that alignment automatically, on the lathe, before machining begins. The XLS is the latest generation of on-lathe toric lens axis referencing from DAC International.

The XLS’s electro-mechanical sensor rapidly and accurately locates the axis drill mark on a lens blank already seated in the spindle collet. Once located, the XLS identifies the axis position to less than one degree — allowing the machine to properly align stabilization or optical features on the front surface to the axis established on the back surface, without any manual measurement or operator interpretation. No separate referencing station. No transfer to a separate alignment machine.

  • Automatically identifies axis drill mark location to less than one degree — on the lathe
  • Electro-mechanical sensor for rapid, accurate axis location without manual measurement
  • Enables accurate front-to-back axis alignment for toric specialty contact lenses, IOLs, and ICLs
  • Eliminates the need for a separate toric axis referencing station
  • Compatible with ALMe, ALM, and MLC platforms
