DXF Files for IOL Manufacturing
For many years, DAC lathe software has required that geometry files be specified in the .CDL format used by CADKey. However, many customers use AutoCAD or other CAD packages that cannot export files in the .CDL format. Third party packages used to translate .DXF files to the .CDL format often mangle the color and/or level information, rendering the translated files difficult to use, or in some cases, simply unusable.
To remedy this situation, DAC has upgraded its lathe software to support DXF files for IOL manufacturing. DAC customers can simply enter the name of their DXF file wherever they would have used the name of a CDL file instead. The software will support multi-path IOL designs using DXF files, as well.
A stand-alone utility is also available to translate DXF filds into CDL format, if needed.
